I stood in line and checked the score.
My restless mind was soon to bore.
"Damn, no WiFi." my smartphone swore.
The cashier smiled, but I ignored.
Driving home I weaved and swayed
as texts I read and you-tube played.
A red light missed, a loud horn brayed.
An angry gesture was displayed.
Inside the house, the table was set.
The candles were lit and the playlist preset.
"One moment" I said, "just a few emails yet."
She sat all alone with the quiet sunset.
Are we truly tech obsessed?
Our disconnections will confess
what hearts and minds cannot express.
In silence we sit, in darkness we hide
with only a glow in our beds by our side.
